Note January 2010: We are currently preparing an application for renewal of funding to support GOBASE past August 2010. We ask GOBASE users to express support for this application by clicking on this mail-to link and sending us email.
GOBASE is a taxonomically broad organelle genome database that organizes and integrates diverse data related to mitochondria and chloroplasts. GOBASE is currently expanding to include information on representative bacteria that are thought to be specifically related to the bacterial ancestors of mitochondria and chloroplasts The current version of GOBASE, release 24, is based on GenBank release 172 and was released in October 2009. GOBASE now includes a link to a database of all complete organelle genome sequences in GenBank updated daily; these sequences are presented exactly as in GenBank, without GOBASE validation procedures, as a complementary resource to the GOBASE database. This release also includes 82,000 new mitochondrial sequences and 52,000 new chloroplast sequences.
Users are requested to cite GOBASE in any publication making use of GOBASE data. The preferred reference is:
